I prefer not to dump the air first when levelling as I don't want the coach as low as possible, just makes access to the storage bay that much harder. An extra 2" lower make a big difference.

Yup, you're right! That's the only disadvantage to dumping. To me it's still worth it!

I had an experience right after I bought this unit. I was staying in a Walmart parking lot for the evening and it was pretty sloped. Being fairly new I didn't pay attention and one of the rear jacks (hydraulic) extended all the way and was now sitting cockeyed in the leveler. I left it in that condition all night and on leaving in the morning I saw where hydraulic fluid had leaked from this leveler. So I am very cautious about extending jacks out too far and dumping the air would seem to minimize the travel of the levelers.
