Air brake filter drier

I replaced my air brake filter/drier today on my 2006 Monaco Windsor PDQ. After I pulled off the old filter there was some what looked like oil water mix. Almost like an engine with condensation. I believe this is probably normal but thought I'd check with the brain trust here. By the way I think this is the first time this was changed.

Thanks in advance
Jim

When I first got our coach I changed that filter and found gobs of that .
It is normal, but I think the build up indicates it hadn't been changed in a long time.
I did ours 2 years ago, then just about a month ago. It looked good a month ago.
I just scooped out as much as I could. Don't use a solvent.

Every two years and there will be less goop... maybe 3 or 4 if you are in a real dry climate most of the time.

As others said it is all normal. You get the oil from the air compressor which is lubed and cooled by the same systems as the engine, some oil will get past the piston rings. The air supply for the compressor is provided by the engine air filter so if dirt gets thru the filter the air compressor will start using oil sooner than the motor. (they always seem to wear out faster) same on a high mileage motor the compressor will put a lot of oil in the air system... If the filter builds up in a few months the compressor is going out.. The water of course comes from the air itself..... jmho...Doug.

Thanks to all. I assumed it was normal but wanted to be sure. Don't need any surprises with the air brake system!! I just wiped it out with a shop towel and replaced the filter. Again thanks
