Air conditioners

We started to live in our MH about 6 weeks ago and I know it has been really hot in Texas but I can't get the temp to get below 80 during the afternoon and evening. The front AC runs most of the time until the sun set. Normal?

That might be all you can do, it depends on the insulation of the rig. The standard RV heat pumps or air cons will only cool the air to 20° less than interior ambient. Start at 100° and 80° might be the best you can expect.
Dual pane windows or adding reflective insulation to the windows if they're single pane might help.
Best would be in the shade all day.

Our '02 DSDP had dual pane windows, the great insulation that Newmar used as well as an optional roof insulation package and we did just fine in Yuma in 95°+ weather with only one 13.5 heat pump running but we did have a little shade too.

We are in Katy, TX. When we put a sun blocker on our windshield, the temperature dropped more than 10 degrees. We do have 3 a/canon running.

Yep, if you haven't already cover the windshield from the outside - that makes a BIG difference.
Having the awnings out will help too.
Might close off the bedroom during the day too, so the AC has less area to cool.

If you have a skylight over the shower you can cut a foam pad to snug fit to cover the space. Adding reflective foil to the top of the pad will also help. Do the same for the overhead roof vents in the kitchen and bath.

I have seen a black screen type on the outside not sure how you do that. Going to Fab a silver reflector type for the windshield on the inside from a product from Lowe's.

Here is one of the best places to get exterior window screens.
https://magneshade.com/
Makes a big difference in the heat load inside.

I got mine from here, much less expensive than Magneshade, and haven't had any problems with it.

The reflector on the inside will help quite a bit, but if you can keep the sun from getting in (rather than keeping it from getting any FARTHER in) that helps even more.

I would love to have a set of Magneshades, but they are a little pricey. For now, I bought a a roll of 48" wide reflectix insulation at Lowes. I cut pieces to fit inside the windshield and the drivers side window and held them in place with blue masking tape. This stuff works great! You can also use it in shower skylight and the vents.

https://www.lowes.com/search?searchTerm=reflectix

Also, make sure your AC fans are set to auto or high on your thermostat. This is an easy mistake.

I just removed the covers on my A/C's and brushed and vacuumed all the dirt and pine needles ect from the units. I was suprised how much dust I blew out of the coils. After putting everything back together there was a noticable diffrence in the temperature of air coming out of the vents. Especially the rear unit. It was the dirtiest and really made a diffrence. You might give your A/C's a good cleaning. It can't hurt?
