Some rigs need to be key on starter position. My 2001 diplomat works on start or ACC position on the ignition switch.
There are 2 release valves. One on each tank. Your brakes will not release your air bag pressure. If it's quiet on your surroundings you can hear the air being released. I believe the air valve to release the air had a fuse.

On the 2008 Knight there are (2) air dump solenoids one for the front and one for the rear. the front one is located in the drivers side compartment where the fuses and relay box is located. Look up on the left hand side of the compartment you will see the solenoid.. the rear one is located on the drivers side behind the A/C condenser fan compartment look to the left above the air dryer you will see it. They dump very slowly you can hardly hear them. the key has to be on in ACC position or in the Run position with out the engine running. the Knight does not have Auto air leveling these solenoids will only dump the air bags and lower the coach.

I had to replace the dump valve on our 06 Knight, nothing happened when it was engaged. Called Monaco support and they indicated that it is a commonly replaced switch.

It involves removing the control panel where the switch is located and replacing the switch, pretty straight forward and not a tough job at all. Try calling Monaco support @ 877-466-6226 they were very helpful. You can buy the switch a little cheaper from another vendor but it was not a big ticket item and I just purchased it from Monaco.
