Aladdin System Issue
Hello All,
New to this site. My 97 year old grandfather has been living full time in his 2005 Monaco Dynasty since new. I am posting on his behalf.
When he arrived to my house this year his Aladdin screen went blank. The system appeared to be on but nothing was showing on the screen. We tried starting and putting in reverse and still nothing shown.
I tried the reset button while the coach was connected to shore power and the joystick light blinked 3 times and never came back on until we started the coach and we still had nothing on the screen.
Do any of you guys have any suggestions on what to do next? Does this sound more than the screen?
Thanks,
Justin

I have no experience with this, since my Aladdin has never done that. You might cut power to it for several minutes, then power it back up. There also might be an in-line fuse running to the Aladdin.
Regarding your 97 year old grandfather, is he still driving the coach?

Here's the troubleshooting manual.
If your Coach will display Aladdin info at more than one location (i.e. TVs and dash monitor) be sure to check at more than one place.
If you have the tank level status monitor in your wet bay, see if that is working - that will help you figure out if the Aladdin system is inop or if the monitor (or video signal) is the problem.

He does not drive it on main roads anymore. He did two years ago though. He does however back it up and park it down the alley behind my house.

Excellent, thank you. After it's reset do I need to do anything to power it back up to work off of shore power?

There is nothing you need to do after a reset. It's all automatic - if its working properly.
Just like if you had the Coach powered down (no Shore power and batteries turned off), once you power the Coach back up the Aladdin should be working without you needed to do anything.

That’s amazing. He must be one heck of a man.

On my unit the main unit has 4 video outputs. They are RCA type plugs, if you have a small video screen that has that input plug it in and try it. I have tested mine that way

Hello again,
We took a little time off investigating this issue but we now believe that it is just the screen. I am going to purchase a replacement from RVCAMS.com. Has anyone done this replacement? Any tips or tricks on how to remove the old screen?

On my Coach there is a Kenwood receiver unit mounted in the dash has a motorized fold-out screen that displays the Kenwood info and the Aladdin. It uses a video "In" input on the back of the Kenwood. I did replace the factory Kenwood KVT-M700 unit with a similar/newer unit last year. It was as easy as just plugging in the Aladdin video cable into the new unit. The Aladdin has a video and audio RCA cable for the backup function, but you could skip connecting the audio if your rear camera doesn't have a microphone built in.
So you should be able to replace your monitor with any monitor that works with a NTSC video signal.

replace KVT-M700 or KVT-641
Country B what did you buy to replace the Kenwood KVT-M700. does it have a pop up screen? I have a KVT-641 and it is now dead. But I would like to replace it with something that will just show the cameras from my alladin as all of the alladin monitored points work just fine.

Another forum member was upgrading his dash radio. Since my unit was an older model (M700) I bought his old equipment (M707). It was an upgrade for my Coach, but still an older/discontinued item.
There is a guy selling a (new) Kenwood KVT-7012BT on the Beaver Forum. He wants $550 (Googling the model number, it's selling new for $900 to $1,500). https://www.kenwood.com/usa/car/navi...ia/kvt-7012bt/
This is a superior unit but perhaps more than you need/want (Touch screen, Bluetooth, voice control, etc.). https://beaveramb.org/forum/index.ph....html#msg69011

Thanks for the reply. I bought a 7 inch flip out screen that I found through Walmart. It is sourced by a company called EinCar (electronics in car) It can be found here https://www.eincar.com/2016-newest-e...etachable.html Note that it was released in 2016. It seems to have all the functions that the KVT-641 and KVT-M700 have. It was $167 and was in stock. I will let everyone know how the installation comes out. I did a Bing search for "connector schematic for Kenwood KVT-641" and found the installation manual for the KVT-641 that had the wiring diagram so that told me what was used by the KVT-641 in the Monaco, so with using a big handful of barrel connectors I I should have a new unit installed.
