Alternator belt help
We are stranded at the side of a country road and the only mobile help we can get can’t seem to figure out which belt he needs to replace the one that shredded earlier today.
Our coach is a 2011 HR Neptune 36PFT With a Cummins ISB 6.7. Apparently he brought the right belts for the engine but not when used in a motorhome.
If anybody could give me the spec’s for the correct belt would be much appreciated

These belts usually shred for a reason ; make sure every component driven by the belt is turning freely , or the new belt won't last a min.

Hi Bob! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined us!
Hopefully Dennis gave you the info you need. This brought to mind something I have been thinking about for quite a while. I have planned to buy a full set of belts for our Cummins ISC350 engine to have available in a situation like yours. I wonder how many people actually do that? Hope you get your problem solved quickly. That's a bad position to be in!

I change the engine drive belt (my Coach has one belt) when there are signs of cracking or age, then I save the old belt for an emergency spare. Same with the coolant hoses.

The OP neds to read this post twice.
I was around automotive and truck since Mobey Dick was a minnow and and seen thousands of serpentine belt failures and have never seen a serpentine belt JUST fail .....there has always been a underlying issue of some sort , ie: belt tensioner failure, bearing failure be it idler failure, a/c compressor failure) in most cases they are obvious, but sometimes they need to be driven a bit to rear its ugly head.
A roll of twine or steal some of the Mrs yarn it will help as far as the correct length at least to get you very close so you can dial it in from there.

Hi Joe; to answer your question is, YES. Since I first bought my previous 2000 Monaco Windsor I went straight to Cummin's to get the serpentine belt and the A/C compressor belt. I would not want to be in the position Bob was in on the side of the road. We are lucky that we have side radiator coaches so getting to the belts is a breeze. If you have a rear radiator you are looking at some belly crawling or hatch diving to replace the belts. Hope Bob got things fixed!

Thanks for all the responses. We are back on the road and all is well. The tensioner was faulty as was suggested. Will be buying a spare belt at the first opportunity.

Tensioner failure is the culprit the majority of the time , the bearing wears ,the pulley gets offset and walks the belt off the pulleys. Normally those belts get frayed pretty bad. Belts that fail because of frozen equipment bearings will show signs of burning and black char. There was some good information about what's the correct belt size. Seems sometimes belt size changes because of what options.
