Alternator part number
2001 holiday rambler ambassador, 5.9 Cummins 24v isb. Alternator stopped alternating today. Fortunately the bearings are still good so I can drive powering the chassis with my coach batteries and the generator when needed.
Anybody know where I can get a part number to order a new one? I know I can likely find one if I take it out but was hoping to do both out and in at the same time. Pics attached.
Thanks for any help.

There should be a label somewhere on your alternator with the model number. You may have to remove it to see it. Call the link below and they may be able to help you.
I replaced my 160 amp Leece Neville 2824LC with a 200 amp Delco Remy 28SI. The install was fairly simple, ( I have a side radiator) except on the DR you don't connect the excite wire since it is self exciting. I purchased mine with a extra pulley wheel at:

I had my old LN rebuilt and carry it as a spare.

Do you happen to have the build or data sheet for your rig?. Mine lists the alternator.
My alternator is a Leece Neville A0012824L 160 AMP, which was pretty standard on Monaco coaches of that time frame. This is a DUVAC type alternator and has to be replaced by the same or you have to do some rewiring to made another type work. Back in 2014 my alternator failed, I removed and had it rebuilt ~$185! I've seen a number of posts of people trying to replace with another type and it caused problems. It can be done but you have to know what to do.
BUT, your alternator does not have the same wiring as mine and the rear does not look the same. Here's a picture of mine that I added sticky notes to so I could make sure it was wired right going back in. I labeled each wire as I took it off. Turn off all disconnects and if you have solar disconnect it or pull the fuses.
There should be an identification sticker on the alternator, it would be worth your while to find it and take a picture.

Thanks for the info folks. I have decided to do some maintenance on the rig.
Rad is starting to weep a bit, so going to remove rad, CAC, all belts and defective alternator. Have all 3 rebuilt along with replacing all belts.
I will get the part number from the alternator when it is out and have it either re-built or replaced. It is a 260 amp alternator so likely just have it rebuilt.
Thanks again.

I'd say your alternator had been replaced as I think the standard was a 160 amp.
Who ever did it must have rewired and did away with the DUVAC system. If they did then you can go with a different alternator then the original.

My mistake, I was sure I read in the manual it was 260. Just checked again and it is 160. So I guess I am stuck with rebuilding. I will ask the shop about a bigger replacement but 160 will do. I have 1120 ah of lithium batteries and 2 dc to dc chargers for a max of 60 amp draw for recharging the batteries. 160 is enough. 260 would be btter. Will close this out once I have it done.
Thanks again for the input everyone.

A 28si or 40si delco would be a better choice. They come in duvac if desired. It's just a remote voltage sense wire. More efficient and you can up the amps enough to dump the dc to dc if you want to.

Found a problem
Had quite a day. Rad and cac are out of the coach and off to be rebuilt. Belt (which I checked a year ago) was very close to failure. Had stripped a bunch of its width off. And alternator went to the rebuilder.
In the attached you will see I think if I didn’t find THE problem I certainly found A problem.

Alternator part number
Hello AirBossdavid, Just saw your post needing a alternator part #. I also am in need of an alternator. Our Coach is a 2002 Monaco Knight 5.9ISB 24 valve 300hp which has your same alternator. It's a Dixie, part #161-116-100 160 AMP. I've been told they are discontinued with no replacement being manufactured. Have you had it rebuilt or replaced yet and if replaced what did you end up using? Any info. you can share would be greatly appreciated. I'm very challenged when it comes to electrical issues so all info.will be of great assistance.

I had the same issue. My shop told me they could not source a new one, and they sent it to a rebuilder who said he could not source parts to rebuild it. They gave me two choices a Korean and a Chinese alternator I think. One was 170 A, the other 270 A. I opted for the bigger alternator.
I will be picking it up today and will give you more detailed information then. Like part numbers and cost

Alternator
Ok good! I haven't removed my Alt. yet but planning to soon. The shop I've been talking to here my town said he couldn't find an exact replacement due to it being discontinued so he wants to see it first and then go from there. I'm hoping to be able to replace it with a readily available Delco if he won't be able to rebuild it but we'll see. The shop here in town is very reputable and have been in business since 1975 so I have the confidence they will be able to help me. The confidence I have in myself to remove and replace it maybe not so much. Again we'll see how it goes. Good luck with your project as well and thanks for the reply!

New alternator part number is 8322, manufactured by Leece Neville. Cost me 1,540 can$ plus a bit to extend the bracket. It was too close to the oil filter and had to be moved just about an inch.
Here is a pic.

WOW, they think highly of the alternator don't they!
Just checked on one for mine 2824LC, $474, this is a 160 amp which is plenty for me.
