Another A/C thread

I have a 2007 Executive with 3 duo therm heat pump/ac on the roof.
I was having trouble getting the rear/bedroom compressor to start and thanks to everyone heres suggestion, I replaced the run and start capacitors on the unit and it now works

However, I haven't used the AC much since we bought the coach and am now noticing that both the center and rear ac's come on at the same time. I'm pretty sure they are supposed to not run together. The front AC is on a separate thermostat. It doesn't matter if I chose zone 1 or zone 2 on the rear thermostat, they both come on. I was watching the amp draw on the gen while running them both crept over 50 amps.
I'm thinking the thermostat is bad???>
Any help would be appreciated.

Are you sure it’s not just the fan that comes on. The compressor could delay start a couple minutes later.

I think there is a control board on the units to set zone 1 or 2 is it possible when you changed the caps you change the zone assignment?

Also before the cap repair did they come on together also?

Hi,
Yes, it was wired this way before I did the cap change. I read the manual very closely and it states that zone 1 is the rear unit and zone 2 is the middle unit. I'm not sure the system can handle both running at the same time.
I'm thinking it is a bad or incorrectly wired thermostat controller.
Can anyone with three AC units confirm that they are supposed to run separately and not together? I seem to remember reading somewhere that all three cannot be run at the same time.

What amp service is your coach?

If they are to be run separate the it sounds like the control board in the unit is configured incorrectly and they are both set for the same zone,.

All 3 can run at the same time. Each can be run independent of the others.
When you toggle the rear between zone 1 & 2 can you change the fan speed of each?

I'll check that tonight.
50 amps seems like way too much power to power these two.
Maybe the run capacitor is shot on the other unit. I bought 2 of them so I'm gonna swap it out tonight and see if that make a difference.

What size gen do you have?

I can't read the amp draw on my EMS panel while on generator. Mine is a 10KW 240V .

50 amps is waaay too much current for two A/C units to draw! Around 15A each, after startup, should be close to normal.

The Aladdin probably displayed 50 amps, but you had the inverter and a few other items running in the background.
Each A/C is on a 20 amp breaker so it's not possible for two to pull 50 amps without tripping a breaker.

You should be able to separately control both the rear and the middle A/C from the rear thermostat.

The zone numbers are assigned by the dip switches on each A/C control board. They are easy to set up or change. The control boards are accessed by first removing the plastic shroud, and then the small metal cover on the right front of the unit.
The thermostat is programmed by performing a reset. Turn the black button on the underside of the thermostat off, then hold down the top and bottom buttons simultaneously, and slide the on/off button on. You will see an FF in the display meaning the thermostat has reset and communicated with the A/C control boards.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Vito.
I sent you a PM with more questions.
