Another jammed slide - 06 LaPalma DP

Fix one issue and encounter a new one. Our LR slide will only go out about half way before it grinds to a halt. I know there's different slide mechanisms, but I can't figure out what this is so I can't easily troubleshoot. The slide has a wire cable on each side, and I'm guessing it's electric, but I can't find a motor/gear inside or outside. I do find that the back cable is very rigid/tight while the front cable has several inches of play.
I'm thinking it could be some debris under the slide interfering with the rollers since the front corner of the floor slide obviously had a leak - floor is rotting.
When we get back to Arkansas from our trip to northern Alberta, I plan to take the LaPalma to Nacogdoches to have the slide removed and repaired, but that's over a month away, and it would sure be nice to have a little more room while we're camped here for the next 10 days.
In reading other's issues with slides, it appears as the first thing to do it lubricate, but I'm not even clear on how to get at the rollers ...

It's a cable slide by BAL. You likely have a badly frayed cable that is jamming in one of the guide pulleys. The motor is located in the frame work above your slide out. The upholstery trim on the upper header is velcro'd in place. Remove it and you will see small access holes in the frame that accesses the motor and carriage assembly. The hole aren't large enough to work through so they often have to be enlarged. I have a 06 Vacationer pusher which is the clone of your rig. I have had 3 cable failures. You really need to have the room nearly fully extended to grain access to the access holes.

You can buy cable replacement kits on Amazon. Google "BAL cable slideout" and you will find diagrams and bunches of complaints about the system. I was unable to find a CA dealer or mobile tech willing to work on a cable slide out so I was forced to learn how to do it myself. I carry an extra repair cable with me at all times.

BLAHARGOUE,
Many thanks ... pulled off the upholstered covers so I can see the mechanism. I'm a little luckier, no holes, almost entire length open. But ... no cable damage showing up there, although most very tight and one very loose. I'll follow your suggestion to check online.

One time my wife left a pair of slippers by the edge of the bed and they got caught under the slide.

So look under the bed for anything that shouldn't be there.

I have a cable slide on my bedroom and one. On mine the adjusting nut and lock nut came loose and backed off to where the slide was only being driven on one side. Sounds like you have a similar problem. Cable tensions should all be equal. Before you close everything back up make sure all locking nuts are tight. After I got mine adjusted I put some loctite blue on them.
