I have an Atwood 10 gal water heater and there is no anode rod that I am aware of. There is nothing in the instructions about it. I think anode rods are in older units, not the new ones. I'll check that out today and update what I find. It would be on the drain plug.

I was wrong. There is an anode rod in this unit. The number is 11553, you can get two on ebay for about $20. Nothing in my owner's manual about replacing it, but I took it out today and found it was almost gone. Time to change it. FYI.

My ignition switch has failed...key just spins around. I'm told that if I can just take it out, any parts store has generic ignition switches that will work.

Its the 'getting out' that i need help on....It looks like I can reach the back of the switch if I can get the black plastic dash/tray/insert out...But how? Any advice?

It feels like it is attached only at points around the two cigarette lighter ports in the back, but I can't see how to unfasten it. HELP! Not going anywhere until this is fixed!

Hey HippieDave, you can lift up the top black leather like dash by removing the screws on the corners and back area. Screws have beauty black plastic covers that snap to conceal Philip head screws. Once you remove about 6~ screws you can lift “Pop” up the whole top dash that will allow access to everything and the key switch. Usually the key switch is tied to the chassis so I’d recommend checking International dealership for that. But you might be able to have a mobile key service inspect the switch and they might be able to repair it. Good luck

hey hippie dave, this switch is a late sixties up truck bus switch. there is a little hole next to the key hole. use a paper clip to incert in the hole with the key in, feel the button push in, then turn key to the left and the the lock cyl part should come out. the bezel then will unscrew and remove housing from the back. you can buy a lock cyl or switch w/housing.

Thanks to all! I went ahead and replaced the switch and lock tumbler, as long as I had them out. Since I also wanted to install some radio gear behind the dash, I went ahead and took out (tore out, to be specific) the black plastic dash insert. After installing the ham and CB radios in that space as well as running wiring for a GPS unit up top, I'm going to build a cherry cabinet insert to replace it. The new cabinet will have a more modern 110V/USB outlet as well as a dedicated USB Charging port and a new 12V port. I think it'll look nice once completed.

Heading home

Been in Little Rock since June and headed home on the 24th... 2 hard days driving but need to get to the house for Thanksgiving with the kids... They are cooking... Going to complete the flooring in the rest of the coach while we are home for a month or so and going to try and get the slide back into proper position... Hope all is well with everyone

Death Wobble

We have had our 2011 Vesta 32PBS for one year now. We have traveled about 10,000 miles in that time, from 48,000 to 58,000. Last Sunday we were towing the sixty mile trip from Road Atlanta to the house and encountered a Death Wobble at about 55MPH. The race car trailer is an enclosed 24 foot Wells Cargo with new axles. Carol was busy doing a web search as I slowed down. While there were several suggested wobble sources, I found the source almost immediately. The Roadmaster RSSA steering stabilizer shock that came on the RV had spewed its oil every where and we were pogoing on just the spring. I replaced the shock in about a half hour two days later. The spring perch on the broken unit had split. The new shock has a bolt and clamp on the perch. I suspect that this was a product upgrade.

hey Veparados, try adjusting the front height sensor to raise the front an inch or two. loosen the hose clamp on the rod and push up on the rubber boot on the rod, you'll see a clean shaft where the boot was seated. raising the front end changes the axle angle leaning the top of king pin rearward. that stopped my wobble completely. yes the steering cyl is an upgrade. let us know if that helps.

Death Wobble No More

Hi Markromero, we successfully flat towed my 2001 F250 SuperDuty five hundred miles after the new stabilizer shock installation without a hint of Death Wobble. I am going to take a look at the ride height adjustment this week. Thanks!

Damaged or totaled Vesta

Hello All,

I’m looking to rebuild a motor coach and the Monaco Vesta really has my attention. The question I have, has anyone heard of a repossessed-totaled- blown engine or other 2012 Vesta?

Air bag replacement

Does anyone have the part numbers for the air bags on the 32 PBS. Going to start researching but plan on replacing them while we are at home for 6 weeks

David, If you're going to all the trouble of replacing the air bags take a look at the Ride Enhancement Kit (REK) from Source Engineering. The kit adds a second air tank, ping tank, to give a better ride. I'm attaching a PDF file that shows the process. If it doesn't come thru PM me with your email and I will send it that way.
