Drive train or engine?

Do u mean engine parts or from engine back. I am probably wrong and not making any deal of it but I always thought drivetrain was what attached to engine. That's neither here or there though. I wanted to share that my local navistar truck dealer had previously told me that you could take off the large converter that burns the soot. Would void the warranty but would totally solve the regeneration problem I had previously written about. I'm sure we wouldn't meet emissions requirements but he said it would make the engine run much better. He also told me that they had a bunch of these engines in busses and med to light duty delivery trucks. He liked the engine if you didn't have the regen part. Back to your point though I have always been slightly concerned about the length of warranty on the drive train as most diesels are much longer than ours. Thanks for sharing as it helps to have others that seem to have knowledge that can come up with options. With Dynamax I simply took in and traded and got rid of it. I just had shop order the REK from source eng. as I'm afraid they will stop making since coach has been discontinued.

IMPO the MF7 engine should last at least 750,000 miles or more with a proper maintenance schedule. deSanford

At age 70 driving about 7000 mi. per year I'd be happy with 150000. I'm just saying, 5yrs now if there is problem I hope Navistar doesn't say "a max what ?" BTW, I too maintain it by the book. I won't lose anything until I sell so I think I'll just hold on to it. At least that's my thinking right now.

VestaDave,

If I read you correctly, they are saying that they are no longer making parts for the chassis. What about the molds for the body etc.? Did I understand in an earlier post that Navistar has gone on record to say that "Monaco Coach" is once again for sale?

As for the engine business, from what I understand, the MF7 and 10 are good to go.

Arrgh...was finally getting interested in something new and it seems to be coming to pieces.

VestaDave even on a good day used coaches are used coaches and the valve drops faster then a rock over a cliff. Just live a long and healthy life and you might get your monies worth out of it. That's my plan and I'm over 70 also. deSanford

Wilco1, I'm not saying that they are no longer making parts for the Vesta chassis. On the contrary, I expect them to continue to make parts if they survive. What remains unclear is the status of the MF 7 engine which was not addressed in the conference call.
DeSanford, you have a great attitude and I admire that. I admit it, the fact that I bought into a failure annoys me. Yes, MH lose value quickly and I'm ok with that but this is different because Navistar didn't succeed in doing what they assured me and all buyers would be accomplished re: the AEGR system.

I think that this forum and having a "good ol boy" mechanic may be the answer if parts or know how to do things for this coach may be what keeps us on the road for the long run. I have no idea what part of country u guys live in but I don't even have a class A RV dealer within 3 hours drive. I have a Navistar truck dealer and an Allison dealer and a Cummins dealer so I might have to run around some but these guys would do what it would take to keep coach on road. Like I said earlier the Navistar shop manager said he cold take the regen (soot catcher) off coach for me and it would run much better but I would lose my warranty. He also thought that with so many school busses, delivery trucks, and light to med duty trucks with this engine they would have to keep parts etc. I'm almost 60 and really don't think I'll buy another coach after this one. I plan to keep for awhile. The local guys that helped me on the Dynamax product actually made the part for less than Dynamax said they would charge to find me one. The part had to do with the air ride on chassis. Bags were Firestone but what bags went on were made by a supplier that was still in business but since Dynamax had been having so many problems they stopped making it in the same manner and told me I was on my own. 12K miles. I would never purchase another product with the Dynamax name on it. I hope Monaco at least tries to support product they have on the road. As I said in an earlier post, I have had coaches since the 1980's and never saw this problem until recently. I guess it's a sign of the finicinal times we live in. I wanted the smaller coach that was still nice but I guess they are after the higher price market that must have a higher profit margin. My last three coaches have become orphan. I never dreamed that Country coach would GOB. I purchased a Magna from them and got really hosed when they stopped! Best of luck to everyone keeping their coach on the road. I still think the Vesta is a great mid size coach!!!!

I agree, Life is Beautiful and most on here r blessed!!

We r worried how to deal with potential problems that majority of people look at us in our MH and never have the hope of having one!!
I wonder if there is any way to find out how many Vesta/Trip coaches were manufactured? Also how many Maxforce 7 engines and power trains have been produced? That would give us a good idea of how we might b supported by Navistar or even the secondary market. One of my other concerns on35' model is front slide because of comment Lazydays mechanic made about how light weight the system was made. ( he is same guy that messed up adjustments that led to me needing it worked at factory though). I don't if 35 and 32 have same slide. I do know mine is second generation with pulley system. As the frame of seal on body delaminated it caused the upper and lower corner of outside body to crack multiple places top and bottom. Guy at factory placed about three times more screws into it and said they all didn't have enough screws to stop the torque when opening and closing. I think I posted this previously. It's an easy thing to put the extra screws in. Anyone handy can do it themselves. I need to try to post pics of cold air kit and may try to post pics where these screws were put. Have a great day.

Navistar stock is up 17% last 2 months and officers r buying

I found this interesting after the summary of conf call and thought I would post it. They may say they r losing money but their stocks has increased 17% in less than two months as of last Friday and officers(insiders) r buying the stock. It came to my attention as an advisory service I purchase has it on the buy list. I guess that doesn't mean they r not losing money on RV's or engines but usually when insiders r buying they know something good. I guess I'm still upset by fact they told me about three months ago when at factory for service how good the Vesta was selling. Probably shouldn't even bother posting this but needed to blow off steam after feeling I was lied to.

I think I may have been hasty in posting about their stock. It is down about 200% since 2011. It is up 20% in last 2 months. Sorry for not looking at whole story before posting

Well, I finally drove a 35' Trip today after loving the Vesta/Trip from a distance. I do like the concept. The interior space works for me with some reservations. The engine noise didn't really put me off though it is obviously more intrusive than a DP. The ride seemed to be quite a bit harsh compared to what I'm used to. Power seemed adequate..albeit without the toad in tow. I'm still interested I guess at the right price.

Still worried about the future of the brand and support as time passes.

Living with the coach is important to me...for those who have being so...how has it been? I don't mind fixing small things but have no time for waiting for parts or exotic repairs while I'm on the road.

Anyway, still in the game...still like the coach...shoot me some good vibes.

Cheers,
tfw

Well for one thing, you got to love driving the coolest looking MH on the road. In my opinion. Honestly, I wouldn't be too concerned about product support going forward as it shouldn't be any better or worse than any other MH. As a buyer you are really in the driver's seat so you can drive a hard bargain looking for a steep discount. If you like it, take the leap.
