Anybody know about Rex?

Haven't heard anything about Rex (Foley, AL) in a long time. Can anybody give us an update?

Hi,
Rex passed away last April. He is fondly remembered as an important source for information on Monaco products. Also remembered as a very nice gentleman, always willing to help on whatever questions we all had on our coaches. For years he maintained the help and parts site on the Monacoers website. Much missed

Rex Darley was a well honored and respected member of the Monacoers Forum who assembled and maintained a VERY extensive parts list that can only be accessed if you are a member.

He eventually had to give up RVing due to severe health reasons and eventually passed on to a better life.

Tom Cherry has taken over for maintaining the valuable parts list.

Rex played a BIG role in my early stages of Monaco ownership. He had helped me on numerous occasions to solve some plaguing problems on my coach.

At one of the Monacoers Rally at Lazy Days, Seffner Florida he gave me a complete custom homemade set of air vent covers to cover the exhaust openings of the front and back "Six Pack" valves that are used for air leveling. These covers prevent Mud Daubers from plugging up the vents which happened to him one time.

Rex Darley - RIP. You are greatly missed.

I haven't installed them yet because shortly after Rex gave them to me I left the Florida area and headed for Alaska followed with 2 years on the west coast since he gave them to me. However, I will be spending a lot of time on the east coast starting next fall with winters in Florida so they will get installed this spring on my way back to Alaska. I am having Elite RV in Harrisburg Oregon do some much needed work on my coach late in April. I will have them do the install for me.

Basically they are made out of thin aluminum folded into a square with 3M Trim double sided tape on one side and the opposite side has multiple holes drilled into the side for the air to escape.

I will take some photos of them this weekend and re-post.

Joe,

I was not aware that you did not know that Rex had passed. Rex was a fine gentleman and made many contributions to the RV community. When Rex found out that I was planning to ditch the Norcold and install a residential frig he emailed me and said be sure and take lots of photos and post them for others to learn from. I did as Rex suggested and many have found those photos helpful. We were just at the last Gathering at Lazydays and I lost count of how many times Rex came up in conversation. Once in Foley we met Rex and his wife and they were wonderful people.

Joe I had a set that Rex made but passed them on to a fellow Monacoers , they don't fit all HWH air leveling systems and would not work on my exaust valves, I used little pieces of plastic screen glued in place with rtv over the exaust ports , be sure to clean around the port with carb cleaner.
Rex was part of our Sunday night maintenance chat group for years.

That sounds like a really simple way to solve the problem! Thanks!
