Apparently we need a new inverter!!!!!!!!!!!!!

UGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!! Another expensive repair. Oh well... I guess it's part of the joy (???) of owning a toy.

Looking for recommendation of what you've bought and your likes and dislikes.

Would you have bought something different than what you bought if (when) you have a chance to do it aver again?

This is what we have now:

These pictures were right-side-up in my computer... SORRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What symptoms do you have that makes you think it is the inverter?

Haven't had to change mine but I've read good things about the Magnum and since you already have all the add-ons it might be worth keeping the same model. If you want to go bigger you would have to check wiring size to make sure it would be compatible.

If you have time you might be able to get it repaired, a quick search shows most components available.

Symptoms:

1. Think of the "pop" we hear when we first plug in to a power pole. That's what were hearing about every minute or two. When I turn "pole-power" off, zero "popping."
2. Checking the "solar gages" indicates that the power "source" is changing from the "pole" to the inverter.

I would LOVE to not have to replace this!!! Especially during these holiday months.

Thought and suggestion very welcomed.

You really need to get this properly diagnosed.

Could be something as simple as a loose connection in shore power cord, ATS, 120 VAC breaker panel, etc.

Turn the inverter off and see if it still happens.

I would power down the entire coach, unplug the shore power and disconnect all batteries. Then power back up and see if it fixes a stuck relay.

Magnum has a good support network with repair centers in most major areas. Unlike the other inverter manufacturers, parts are readily available.
Check for a repair facility in your area.

You might try Mark Snyder Electric in Poway, CA. 1858-748-4612
Good people to work with and very knowledgeable with Inverters.

I talked to them a couple of years ago, and agree very knowledgable.......they informed me that they no longer will repair Magnum inverters......worth a call though

My Xantrex inverter failed. When I went to remove it I found the romex input wire was not connected properly. The wire nut was loose creating heating. the wire nut had evaporated except for the wire core of the wire nut. worked after reconnecting.

Popping sounds like arcing. Could come from a lot of sources. Capacitors often arc/pop when they fail.

inverters with relay bypass switches are a common failure

I have sent my inverters to the manufacturers repair depot and they repaired and returned them. Very competent and quick service.

I'm rigging my current inverter with twist lock plug/pigtails so I can easily bypass it. on my past coach there was room I was going to put a 30A DPDT switch beside the panels to serve as a bypass.

Findings so far:

1. Unplugged from shore power and NOT running the generator, no popping. Checking my Aladdin System (shows where the electricity is coming from – shore or genn) there is continuous power. NO interruptions.
2. With the generator running, no popping. Checking my Aladdin System (shows where the electricity is coming from – shore or genn) there is continuous power. NO interruptions.
3. Turned off generator and plugged back into shore power. Checking my Aladdin System (shows where the electricity is coming from – shore or genn) there is continuous power. NO interruptions.
Been plugged into shore power for about an hour +. No poppin’!! Go figure. I’ll give more updates as we figure this out.

Thanks for all your suggestions so far.
