I just picked up my 2007 HR after it's annual service, LOF/generator/roof/and aqua hot. This was the first total service for this coach, and my first for an aqua hot. The shop indicated that they found the fluid low in the aqua hot and needed to add fluid. Their charge for a gallon was $146, and they indicated that the fluid was expensive. They've serviced my last two coaches, and I trust them totally, but I was a little taken back by the cost. I had assumed the fluid used was similar to anti-freeze. Since I've never purchased this before, I was curious about the cost, adn where this can be purchased retail should the low fluid situation occur again.

It is "boiler" type fluid and you can get it directly from Aqua Hot. It's pricey but that sounds a little high. Plus a gallon sounds like an awful lot too. Mine takes only about a pint when I need to add it. Maybe twice a year to top off the tank......

I am sure that your shop made an error. The coolant is available direct from Aqua-Hot. The list price is $19.95 per gallon. This gallon of coolant is to be mixed with equal parts of distilled water (50% Camco Boiler Coolant / 50% distilled water). That would make the cost $10.00 per gallon + shipping.

If your shop really charged you $146.00 for a gallon of boiler antifreeze, they really ripped you off!
This is boiler antifreeze, available at most any hardware store for little more than the cost of a gallon of RV antifreeze.
In fact, this is essentially RV antifreeze (propylene glycol) with a boiler corrosion inhibiter added.

Thanks for the inputs. I went back and re-read the invoice and the cost wasn't $146/gal, but it was high. As I said I trust the shop, and they just did their usual mark up for parts. Thanks for the link Roger, at $13 for concentrate and $20 per mixed gallon, I'll order some direct from Aqua-Hot.
Thanks Again for the inputs.

You may be able to find propylene glycol boiler antifreeze at your local hardware store, however it probably will not be an equal product to the Camco 100 Degree Boiler Antifreeze. Unfortunately it is very hard to find. Aqua-Hot has a service bulletin that outlines approved equal products. If anyone wants a copy send me a personal email.
When I pay for shipping, I purchase the Aqua-Hot part number MSX-300-275 Antifreeze, Boiler Concentrate, because you are not paying to ship water. This concentrate is mixed with distilled water (1/3 boiler concentrate and 2/3 distilled water).
