Aqua Hot problem 06 Sig

Still working on my Aqua hot system. Service tech says everything checks out OK, but will not fire? Roger Burke has not been able to help either. Question, I know the gen will not start if fuel is below 1/4, but what about the diesel Aqua?

Pickup level is supposed to be about the same as your genset.

Did he check the photo cell in the burner chamber? Did he check the gap at the two electrodes? Has he checked the fuel pump pressure? Checked the fuel flow rate with the fuel return line discharging into a container? Did he check the firing of the electrodes using an outside electrical feed source? When my unit, a 450 DE, failed to fire or smoked badly it was the flexible rubber boot at the air intake collapsing restricting the air flow.

When ours would not fire up, it was a dry rotted seal on the radiator cap on top of the tank.

I ask the tech to come to my house with only a volt meter, because I think it's a simple fix, and I still think it's something simple! He wants me to take it to his shop, I'm just hard headed I guess. He did note that the radiator cap gasket was dry rotted!!How could that effect it? The AC hot water went out same time? I'm telling you, we are missing something simple!!!

If that rad cap gasket has rotted, your probably sucking air. And that's not a good mix.

With the radiator cap seal not sealing, we lost vacuum. A lot of our antifreeze evaporated. Once we topped off the antifreeze and replaced the radiator cap, the aqua hot fired right up.
We ran out of hot water and our furnace was blowing cool air. Being new to the aqua hot world, we called an aqua hot tech. We told him what was happening and that we noticed that the overflow tank the level never changed. He had Tom pull the radiator cap and look at it. Sure enough, it was dry rotted. Now checking the cap is just part of our regular maintenance.

So it's probably triggering a 'low coolant level', and not allowing the unit to start.

Ashville have you stood on your head and looked at the Aqua Hot control panel that is mounted on the roof of the basement? Look and see if any warning lights are on. Also when you turn on the Aqua Hot can you hear the pump run for three to four minutes before it shuts down do to no ignition. If you had a low coolant then you would have a warning light on the overhead board.

No warning lights, yes pump runs then cuts off, it never attempts to fire.

The low coolant wires are jumped , do it would not indicate low. Stick my finger in radiator and coolant level is just 1 inch below lip.
