Aqua Hot zone 1 not heating

I have an issue with my heat not working in zone 1, living room kitchen, zone 3 works just fine, bedroom bath. In looking at the controls the green light is on in both zones. Zone 2 is not lit I presume that is the basement heat and it is not calling for heat.

I have tried both the electric heat and diesel heat neither are heating zone 1. Hot water is working just fine.

All of the heat exchanger fans are working but just blowing cold air in zone 1.

Any help in directing me where to look for a solution is appreciated.

Thanks
Steve

The circulation pump for zone 1 is probably not pumping. Try tapping on the back of that pump to see if it starts humming. The motor may be near its end of life.

Check inlet and outlet hoses for Zone 1 pump, you will probably find the hoses feel cool to the touch.

From your description the system "thinks" everything is working fine.

AquaHot has good tech support. Call the factory in CO and they will walk you through checking it.

9.9 times out of 10 the problem is the one way flapper valve that is above the circulation pump for that zone. If you remove the side cover off the Aqua Hot unit you will see the brass check valves. Turn on the heat for zone one and tap the check valve lightly with a hammer and it will open and all is good. Don't waste money replacing them because the new ones will occasionally stick also. The problem is they put the valve vertical instead of horizontal so they stick.

My brass check valves are above the aqua hot and easily accessed. Tap them with a small hammer while calling for heat

thanks for the input. I did try the tap on the pump but that did not fix it. tomorrow I will try tapping on the valve Mike Carter spoke of. hopefully that does it. if not Bill has a good solution and I might head south till it warms up here in MT.

thanks everyone for your help. much appreciated help from this forum. I will let you know what my solution is.

my Aqua Hot was replaced and brand new April 2015.

Steve

Try the tapping and also make sure your boiler is full of antifreeze. If your "Radiator Cap" seal is bad you could have steamed off some antifreeze.

Steve, since your Aqua Hot is new then it maybe a good idea to check the ratio of the boiler antifreeze they put in. It should be 50/50 but if it it is more concentrated than that then that will cause the flappers to stick.

Here is an update on my Aqua Hot.

Seems like the circulation pump is faulty. When I 1st posted this the lights and status were all green on the control panel. after tapping the pumps and valves, lightly I might add, to no avail I called Aqua Hot tech service. When looking again at the status lights the #1 pump status light turned red.

Since my system is within the 2 year warranty period they are sending me a new pump and I will have it changed out at Aqua Hot's expense when I am getting some yearly periodic maintenance done.

Thanks everyone for your input.

Steve
