Arens/Allison MH1000 Transmission Problem

Started my ISB engine today and noticed the Park light on my Arens transmission console was blinking. Moved my 2008 HR Vacationer XL 34PDD close to the house to load it prior to leaving for a week in NC. I turned it off and then called Clark Power in Knoxville to inquire about the blinking Park light. They told me to bring my RV in for testing. When I went out to start it, it would not start - no lights on the dash or on the Arens console. Checked my chassis batteries which showed 12.7 volts - also did a load test which indicated weak batteries - they were the original Interstate Workaholic batteries with a date of 4/07. Talked to a tech at Buddy Gregg who said he thought it was battery related. Replaced the batteries with new 31C batteries. Bottom line - still won't start. I haven't been able to find a mobile tech to come and check it out. That I can't start the engine is bad enough. It gets worse - our RV is parked 5 feet from the house and is blocking the entrance to the garage. Due to the position of our RV I don't think a tow truck can hook up. Fortunately my wife's car is outside. Anyone have any suggestions?

With no dash lights, and nothing on the shifter , and at this point I'm assuming your " no start " to mean your engine won't crank over at all .
It would appear that you've lost all chassis battery power to the dash board.

Questions .
Is this a Freightliner , front engine diesel chassis?
Have you checked for battery power to the ignition switch ?
Checked the chassis fuse box for power everywhere ?
There may be a master fuse or 12 volt circuit breaker , between the battery and the ignition switch and chassis fuse panel , having wiring schematics for your chassis would confirm this; so if your coach is on a Freightliner chassis , call their help line with your serial number and ask them to e mail you the schematic . The fuse would be within 3 feet of the battery in the main power cable to the dash board , on my chassis it's 135 amp.

Good afternoon Bob; Now since you have new chassis batteries, do other items that work off the chassis side work, such as head lights and tail lights, wiper motor, front dash blower motor. If the previously mentioned work, somehow you have lost power to the dash, engine electronics and transmission. You should have a Roadmaster chassis for you coach. Do you have the owners manual? If so under the chassis section it should explain where all the related fuses and breakers are located for the chassis components. I know it's never easy when it an electrical problem, but you had power once and there has to be something that has become disconnected since you shut down the engine. If now you do not have head lights and other chassis components not working, you would have another direction to look at to see why those are not working. Just trying to get you going in a direction to isolate the problem and help you get un parked. If you don't have the manuals, you can go to the HR web site and download the manuals. Should be down toward the bottom of the home page. Hope some of this helps you get in a direction to solve this. Good luck!

Had a friend's son who used to be the service manager a Boat-N-RV in Rockwood, TN come to the house this afternoon. He discovered the problem - a failed OMRON 7866 relay located in the electric bay under the driver's seat. He pulled the side marker light relay (OMRON 7866) and the engine started right up. What a relief!!!! Thanks for your responses.

BTW, while the chassis is badged as a Roadmaster the few Vacationer diesel pushers manufactured by Monaco began on the WH W22 chassis which were then altered to accommodate the ISB diesel in the rear with the Onan genset in the front. To their credit Monaco replaced the Bosch brakes with Arvin-Meritor brakes - big improvement!!!! Early on I replaced the Monroe shocks with Koni FSD shocks and replaced the WH W22 jounce bumpers with Sumo airless springs - read that as larger jounce bumpers - both of which significantly improved the ride of my 192" wheel base RV. This pig's ear - will never be a silk purse.
