Auxiliary compressor for HWH Air Leveling diagnostics

Since I got the coach (about 5 years) the aux compressor never worked. I never looked at it. Yesterday I noticed the in-line fuse holder rubber cap was open and the fuse was caked in dirt. Today I crawled under the front to replace the in line fuse holder for the Air Leveling Auxiliary compressor. I now have power to the 12v Essex Relay but still no aux compressor. I turned on the ignition. Had about 90 pounds in the front tank. Raised and lowered coach to take air down to 30 psi. Entered leveling mode. Went outside and the compressor was not running.

Anyone know the part numbers for the Essex relay and the pressure switch??

I guess I could direct wire the motor to see if it runs??

The compressor does feed the front tank right? or just the air manifolds? That is should I get the auxiliary compressor air psi on the green needle from the front tank when the aux kicks on?

Well, it depends on how the Monaco folks felt when yours was built. The drawings say it fills the front tank which also fills the back tank. HWH says it should go directly to the front and rear leveling manifold.

I found a compressor on EBay for about $70 rather than the $400 other places ask. You have a 600 series leveling system. We have two problems, volume and run time. The 600 series will run about 15 mins before it times out. If leveling requires more than about 60 psi there is not enough volume from the pump to get it done in 15 mins. The solutions? A larger pump or re- plum the aux to run as HWH intended. I have looked at higher volume options. Most use more power than the wire will carry or they are noisy. The Thomas pump is very quiet for a 100% duty cycle pump.

You might also have a pressure switch problem. There is an air dryer for the pump and pressure switch must close for for the pump to run. It is more likely to fail than th Essex relay. The HWH documents available on their site have trouble shooting ideas and part numbers IIRC.

I have to have my windshield reset at Alliance Coach in July, I'm going to ask them to reroute my air lines as HWH intended. $$$$$

Auxiliary compressor for HWH Air Leveling diagnostics

There is an awesome guy in the Tampa area that resets windshields. If you are interested I'll try to find his contact info. He comes to you.
I'll try to figure out how to test my pressure switch or just replace it if I can find a 105/115 Psi switch.

We are about 6 hours from Tampa, does he come that far? If so I am interested.

Your leveling brain should be in the ceiling the first basement door from the curb side. Have some one push the raise button on the panel and make sure the 9500 wire has 12v. That goes to the pressure switch then to the signal contact for the Essex. The pump being exposed gets the armature cruded up. I moved mine in side the first compartment overhead to keep it from reoccurring. There are fuses in the brain, too. It might be that easy.

If you're going to rerun your air lines you may want to switch the compressor to a 3 port larger capacity to maintain both tanks and the manifolds. See 3-8.2

I'll look up his contact. He does make a route around Florida. My wire is 9700 I think (see photo). I had about 80 pounds in both tanks. Hit raise front to activate aux compressor with ignition on. Then hit level. Compressor is not running and there is no 12v on the board or on the black wire.
Do I have to have the dw hit raise "while I'm checking for voltage"?
Should I be checking for 12v from the board or should I be checking for voltage from the wire from the pressure switch?
I have no voltage at either spot but I wasn't pushing raise while I was checking voltage.

Very through write up in the link, thank you. I have the single source system. I have considered getting a 110V pump and using the signal voltage to run a relay. Perhaps I have a check valve not working right. I am going to get a evaluation while at Alliance just to see what my options are.

I have a 1999 Windsor with a HWH system I had installed after market. I had a problem with my pump and found I had lost the ground. The pump has 2 hot wires coming to it. One is wired to the chassis 12 volts and is hot all the time, the second is the control voltage that comes from the leveling system and picks up a relay to allow 12 volts to the pump. I found these voltages were okay and the ground was missing.

Thanks. I understand the ground comes from the relay mount. I need to check the signal wire. I checked it before when the compressor should have been running but it may only provide 12v signal during the pushing of an up arrow (momentary).
