Awning Arm Pulled Loose

A few days ago at a race in Vegas I attempted to extend the big awning on the driver side. These are the electric, scissor style awnings.

All of a sudden my wife hollered " stop - stop". I discovered that the small lag screws HR had used to fasten the arm at the top had pulled out of the side of the coach so the arm was dangling loose at the top.

It appears these just fasten in to the fiberglass, with nothing behind them for a backer?

Anybody else had this problem and how to fix it? Coach type is in sig.

I had an awning arm pull loose a couple of years ago. Funny, but mine happened at LVMS also. I cut out a small retangular aluminum plate and screwed it into the motorhome and then screwed the awning bracket into it.

That's more or less what I had thought about doing.

It looks like I could fab up a piece that would wrap over the top and attach to the aluminum plate on top of the roof.

There's no access from the inside and the whole setup is kind of rinky dink if you ask me.

I agree. On most of these the awning is an after thought.

Dick, I wonder if your awning may be hanging up like mine and that's what jerked the screws out? Look at my post below.

Yeah, I actually read that post and it made me wonder the same thing. I think my awning's a little different than yours but it's something I'm going to look at as soon as I can.
