Awning repair on slide out

My Holiday Rambler has a tear in one of the slide outs. I'm trying to remove the material and have unwound the spring and pined it open on both ends. Can I remove the bolt showed in the picture and slide it out enough to remove the awning.

What i'd do is using a dremel, grind an opening where the rope slides by that plate.......or try to find a dia of the parts for that brand

Check out website toughtopawnings - they have a DIY video that does a great job describing the how to. I had similar problem, knew nothing about approach, used their DIY, bought my replacement awnings from them and with the help of a friend, replaced all four slide awnings.

RV Geeks

RV Geeks has a great YuoTube video showing removal and replacement. I used their DIY techniques to repair out bedroom topper awning.
