Bad inverter charger

I am having problems with my Trace Xantrex RV3012 inverter with RC7GS remote, my problem is the internal battery charger is no longer working, about 2 1/2 years ago I had the same problem and had it repaired but now it's out again, inverter works great. My first thought is to replace inverter but am now wondering if there is a stand alone battery charger system I could install until inverter gives up, we seldom use inverter and am thinking I can get a few more years out of inverter. Appreciate any help.

I don't know about your specific model, but its smaller immediate predecessor the Combi-10 had an internal glass fuse on the circuit board which was prone to failing and causing the charger section to fail while leaving the inverter functioning. If yours is the same fixing it may be as simple as removing the the case cover and changing out a glass fuse.

I don't see why you couldn't do what you want to do, you could buy one similar to this
https://www.amazon.com/Powermax-Supp.../dp/B00F8MC440
and mount it as close as possible to your battery bank for efficient charging. Just have to have a power supply close.
One option might be to use your engine heat plug to power it, that way you could shut it off/on as needed.

Hopefully someone else will chime in.

Your substituting a large 80 to 100 amp charger. You don't say what the capacity of the battery bank is but you want to stay with about 15% to 20% of its capacity.

You may want to install something like this.

https://www.batterystuff.com/power-s...ls-90-iq4.html

They make a 70 amp model also.

Thank for your info I like both the 55 & 75 amp chargers, I am running (4) 6 v deep cell batteries, I am going to check for glass fuse before I do anything.
Seems like a waste of money to replace a good inverter for a bad charger.

I was wondering if anyone has one of these chargers and if so are they noisy.
