Basement compressor

i have a 200 Monaco la palma, I have a compressor in the bay under the driver side, i also have a gauge with a toggle switch under the dash near my left knee, i cant get it to work, what is the compressor for? I cant trace the lines from compressor, don't see where it goes, I don't have air bags in the front, on the rear I do but the fitting is near rear wheel opening, I kept flipping the toggle under dash and a friend said he could hear the solenoid clicking but no action, cant figure out what the compressor is for. I do see a blue tube from a little air tank looking thing that says "air brake sae" and there is a valve to twist for I guess pressure adjustment? the brakes don't seem to be "air brakes" like a big truck, is this a addition for the master cylinder for power brakes. but why wont the gauge under dash show any pounds pressure? THANKS
