Bay doors not locking!

My coach has a keypad by the entry door that locks and unlocks the entry door and all the storage bay doors. I just discovered that even though the bay doors handle is locked, some of the doors are not secured and can still be opened. Obviously the sliding locks on each side are not properly adjusted. Have any of you had this problem, and if so, what did you do about it?

As always, thanks for your help!

Joe,
I had the same problem but found that the way the latch portion was fastened to the door allowed it to move, sometimes not letting the door lock. To fix I cut a small piece of 1/2" plywood that fit behind the latch portion, snug fit. I used some glue to hold it in place.

In a couple of doors I added some spacers under the metal latch catch to make sure it fully engaged the latch.

By doing this the latches are more secure and don't flex making them latch more reliably. I still go around with my leg and push in at the bottom to make sure the door is latched securely.

Jim, are you talking about the pieces on the door frame on each side?

Yes on previous post.

Also, I did remove the inside door panel on several of the doors, I had tried to open with a key and they were hard to turn. I took apart and lubricated and everything moved easier.

Thanks Jim! I'll get to work on them soon!

X2 I also adjust the latch on the door so that the door "rattles" a bit when you grab the handle and pull when they are locked. I found that when you have the door latches set to keep the door tight shut they will come open when traveling due to flexing in the frames. I also do not let the doors slam on their own when closing, I hold the latch open and close the door and release the latch handle. This keeps the bolt from becoming notched and unable to close on it's own if need be.
