I remember reading about repair remedies when the screws holding the hydraulic cylinder hinge pulls loose from the flimsy plywood they are attached to under the bed but can't find any. Help anyone. I'm thinking I need to pull the plywood panel on the top side if that's possible and glue a wood block on the top side of the bottom sheet which should give me a much better bite for the hinge screws.

Why don't you use a top down nut and bolt to hold the bracket?

As Dennis says it would be best to drill through from the top and use a counter sunk screw. A pan head might also be fine. I would also suggest that you add two more gas struts as we did. It makes the bed so much easier to lift. We changed to a better mattress and it was so heavy we had no choice but to install two more gas struts.

Bob: I'll take another look at it, but I thought the lower panel that the screws went into was not very thick, like only 3/8". Or is there only one panel in the bed frame? If it's only a single panel then I'll come from the top with a countersink screw.
