Recently we lost power to several 120 outlets in our bedroom slide. Where do I start looking for the problem? They worked a while back, then became intermittent, now don't work at all.

Start by removing each outlet that does not work from the wall and check the connections. The outlets are usually series connected so a loose or bad connection can affect more than one outlet. If that does not fix the problem then you will have start at the AC distribution panel and work you way to the outlets.

Look for a breaker on an outlet, bathroom maybe.

Check wherever your GFCI outlet is. Ours was in an outside bay and when it tripped it shut off almost every single plug in the RV. I would check that before removing any outlets.

Also, if all of the outlets that are not working are on the one slide, try to find the box where the cable in the slide is connected to the cable(s) in the main body of the coach. It will be under the bed, or under a bottom cupboard drawer or under the bottom floor of a cabinet, directly next to the slide. What you described sounds like a deteriorating physical connection. Most bed slide outlets work only while plugged in and not on the inverter, while the other bedroom outlets will work the inverter. Are only the outlets on that slide affected? Or, are others not working, also?

Our BR slide outlets are connected to a junction box under the bed... You may find the problem there.

Almost every time I operate my slides it trips both circuit breakers for the 110 volt plugs on both sides! Luckily I can climb over the bed and get my arm in the cb panel and reset them without opening the slides. I have never looked for the shorts.

Thanks everyone who offered advice. I had to get intimate with the 110/v system when installing a new Sleep Number bed. Found a junction box hidden under the bed where a poorly installed wire nut let go of the hot lead to the dead plug. Problem solved and the bed works great with air!

Was told several years ago (OK, quite a few now) from a Monaco rep that the bedroom outlets are not fed from the inverter because some CPAP machines, electric blankets, etc, will not work on its modified sine-wave output.

Never one to believe things, I went ahead and re-did mine... and then re-wired it back the original and bought 2 more new electric blankets and

I can confirm what Rusty Tools said. We were told at the recent Holiday Rambler Maintenance Session Seminar that the AC outlets at the head of the bed are NOT fed by the Inverter because the Inverter and Electric Blankets don't play well together. These outlets are only fed by the Generator or Shore Power. Don't know if this is still true in new coaches. Maybe new pure sine wave inverters and modern electric blankets do play nice with each other? Don't know about CPAP machines. Maybe a CPAP user can chime it.

Well, after finding a loose wire in a junction box hiding under the bed, the problem outlet is now working - but only on generator or shore power. Our new problem is our new air bed pump and our new CPAP machines. Both outlets on the road side don't work when we are running on our new solar power. Not good!
As a work around, I must run an extension cord from the one plug on the curb slide and plug our CPAP machines in, the air bed pump has to wait.

The inverter - Modified wave - was factory wired. We have a new pure wave unit. According to the solar installer, making the road side slid plugs hot would be a major undertaking involving running a few new leads. Really?

Help appreciated....

The outlets near the headboard or night stands usually are not on the inverter and that means they will only work when the generator is running or you are on shore power.

The two posts by RustyTools and CadillLinc just before your recent post and the one by "nodine", this morning, are spot on. I would exercise great care and thought before I moved loads from the shore/generator source to the inverter fed source.

The inverter should only power very small loads like TV's, computers and other electronic devices for extended periods, and heavier demand loads like a hair dryer or waffle iron only for very short durations. Anything that will demand significant energy over extended periods will draw more from your batteries than what they can reliably supply.

And the concern about non-sine wave energy being incompatible with some devices is very real, as well. Unless you have a pure sine wave inverter, you do not want to power some devices with it.
