Bendix Cruise Control

93 Monaco Signature series and the Bendix cruise control does not work. I bought the coach 3 months ago and the speedo did not work. The simplest way was to change to a GPS speedo which works great.

I am in Southern Oregon. Any ideas where to go to see if it can be fixed? A local shop took one look and said "Ah, they went out of business so it can't be fixed.

Is there a new brand I could use?

Thanks for any help.

It depends on the model of the cc. Many Bluebirds use an obsolete Bendix system. Is it the cable? If it is the module an electronic repair guy may be able to fix it. There are a few parts available. There was a system that could replace the Bendix but they closed shop . Some people have adapted a regular car system.

What engine do you have? If diesel, do you have a pacbrake (exhaust brake) or jake brake? That needs to be disconnected for the cruise to work.

Another thing to look at is speed sensor (output shaft sensor). Both speedo and the cruise probably use the same output. That should be close to the output shaft from the transmission.

I agree with try output speed sensor about $20 for aftermarket to try. Start with the basics bad connections, fuses ,damaged wires , grounds you may get lucky.
I'm in same boat Speedo and cruise went out. But mine is electronic either Cummins or Allison same as into 2000s electronic injection and cruise. I asked here who's it is not much help.

I ahve the mechanical 8.3 Cummins and a pac brake. The shop I took it too came well recommended but I am not sure. They demonstrated that with the key but not started I could hear the pac brake operating ang they said pac brakes do little.
Mine does not cause the Allison 3060 to downshift so I am skeptical.

The cruise is an air operated bendix and they did not try to trouble shoot it.

Disappointing

Sounds like the pac brake linkage is frozen. You may want to try silicone spray and try to work it loose with pliers or something else.
But it still needs to be turned off for the cruise to work. Otherwise it would be like trying to hit the gas and brakes at the same time.

If that does not work, check the air lines for leaks in the cruise system.
