Blue Sea Relay Question // Alt Fail message on the road need help

Just starting a trip with the new Blue Sea relay. started the gen and after a few minutes we got a brief alt fail message flashed once went away. The battery voltage shown was also high at 14.3
Shut down the generator but the message had all ready gone away.

I have also seen the brief alt fail flash once while starting when plugged into 110
Alt is fine and charging house and start batteries all day

When you are starting the rig the starter pulls high amperage, if it is cold outside the grid heaters will kick in. This may result in your alternator trying to compensate for the high amperage draw.
Running the generator may also be causing a higher voltage. You might try turning on the headlights and see if that helps.

I manually disconnect the Blue Sea ML-ACR when I have the engine and the generator running.

Each battery bank has its own charging source and no need to have the two charging sources fighting against each other.

Charging sources don't fight each other , they work together to bring the battery voltage up to each set point.

The issue is the fault light doesn't know a spicific voltage, it seems the chassis battery voltage higher then the alternator output and thinks the alternator is not charging.

All is well and if the light is on, just turn on the headlights or something to place some draw on the chassis battery. The light will go out.

The BIRD system has a generator running signal wire that locks out the original solenoid if two charging sources are present. Its possable that the Blue Sea has something along that line. Check your instulation instructions.

Having to manually switch an ACR, ( Automatic Charging Relay ) makes no sense to me.

Fight was a poor choice of word.

The ancillary systems can get confused when there is more than one charging source.

Thanks for the info. I think one option might be to turn off the charger side of the inverter

It's a known issue/annoyance with larger solar and an added bidirectional or otherwise charging the chassis as well.
A ways back some created a work around for a Monaco
