Brake control for trailer

We have a 2003 Monico Windsor, we need to instal a brake control for a trailer, we need to tow. Has anyone found the brake wire needed to connect the control unit. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

I called Monaco but my connector wasn't where they said it would be so I got a sniffer and connected it to the 7 pin connector at the hitch and the sniffer found the other end inside my side console. I would start with Monaco first.

Sorry if there was a misunderstanding, I need the location on the brake switch to connect the controller. I haven't started to look for the wire that goes to the rear plug. But thanks for the info on tracing the wire back.

Your in for some fun Monacos brake light switches are on top of the brake pedal there are two of them they are wired so as to be hot till you press on the pedal then they go cold and the brake lights are activated by a series of relays. You can find the wire that goes hot when you press on the brake pedal in the front electrical bay on the drivers side in Monaco Box 2 it's a white wire marked brake tap into it and run it up behind the dash. Now if you want to wire it so that it won't work with your exhaust brake that's another thing😎

I knew that this was not a simple thing. As nothing is simple even you want to make small modifications. Thank you will look for the wire tonight.
Thank you

Im just curious, does the trailer have electric brakes, if so just connect it to your connector back by the hitch. I tow a dolly with electric brakes and have never had any issues.

I think you're making it harder than it needs to be. All Monacos were equipped with a wire harness for trailer brakes connected to the 7/6 pin connector at the hitch and terminated with an unused connector located "usually" under the dash....some times in the driver's left console. Depending upon the brake controller you have purchased, you can get an adapter that will mate to Monaco's connector to your brake control connector.

Agreed, sometimes finding this connector can be difficult, but no need to wire into the mh's brake switch.

Good luck
