I carry a heat gun and check all 4 wheels on a regular basis on a trip, also check my toads. Good practice to know how hot they are running and what you normally see.

Curious. What kind of brake temps do you see? I am getting 175f front and 300f rear on just a casual test drive.

Seems I have one slack adjuster adjusting and one not. Are these serviceable and if so what am I into?

Just adjusted them both 1/4 out from seating and leaving them there. Did a few 20 mile runs and brake temps approx 200f (and that of course depends on how hard the stop was prior to test). Going to periodically check adjustment manually to make sure all stays put.

Something doesn't sound right here. Don't you have 4 wheel disc brakes? Where are these slack adjusters you are talking about? Is the parking brake incorporated into the caliper?

Sorry this post should have read “I have one slack adjuster working and one not working” This is a Meritor 4 wheel disc brake system on air and the parking brake is controlled by valving to the air chamber. When I speak one adjuster working I meant on the rear (the fronts seem fine). I am on a lengthy run with the coach right now and all seems good so far (about 250 miles in). When I return I will check everything out and report.

Well 1000 miles on brakes since my debacle and all is well. I did check adjustment at 250 mile intervals and nothing was tightening up. One rear was a little out of adjustment (from the 1/4 turn out I set it at and was set back at 1/4 out). Thanks for everyone's input.
