Brake pedal noise with engine off
Hi fellas. Finally brought my coach home and was able to "play" without the dealers guy hovering over me. 2008 Monaco Monarch gasser. When I have driven it before dealer had it started when I got into the pilots seat. I noticed that when I depress the brake pedal before the ignition is turned on, the brake pedal vibrates gently and makes a growling sound. As soon as the engine is on, sound and vibration disappear. Is this normal?

That is normal it is the hydraulic brake system making the sound. I'm no expert on why it does it I just know all the ones we test drove did it as well as the one we bought. I asked why it did it and they explained it was the way the system is supposed to operate.

On big motor homes they often use a brake booster called Hydroboost.
This relies on the power steering pump to boost the brakes, of course if the engine stopps for any reason, (key off, blown engine, out of gas) you now have no brake boost.. And your leg is not strong enough to stop the ride un-aided (At least mine is not)
So there is an electric pump that kicks in,, A flow switch holds it off when the power steering pump is live, but if the PS pump fails, the aux (electric) pump kicks in
Works very well,, makes noise.
