Fortunately, I was able to perform the repair myself, but I had thought that since I avoided the trailing arm problem of the RR4 and RR8 that I was safe. If I had known the RRS had it's own issues, I would have inspected for it before purchasing.

Glad it worked out for you. Any decent mechanic/welder/or engineer could look at your original break and see it was not the weld, but an inadequately sized arm that caused it.
I used to bounce along many of the rotten roads in the US in amazement at how strong these suspensions have to be to take the beating. Then last month we lost a trailing arm on our Cayman. Now I am not so impressed!

Hi, Moe. We met at Talin/Stone Vos when they were installing our new slide toppers while we were parked next to you. That was a pretty impressive failure. I'm glad to see later in this thread that Coach Net and Josam got it done!

Well at least your rig is safe now that you repaired it. I wasn’t aware of the issue either until the cracks were found. Now we’re on to safer travels!

Hi John! Yes it was nice meeting y’all. Talin, Josam, Coach-Net, and Lazydays (who did our slide chain replacement) were all excellent and took great care of us!
Safe travels!

Yes, It was a big relief getting it all done.
It's much easier to take care of if people can catch it before things are broken. I think every coach that has a RRS chassis should be checked to see if the external gussets have been retrofitted. It's only a matter of time that they will crack or break if they are not strengthened pre-emptively.

A couple more pics of Moe's failure that I couldn't resist taking. And, one of ours on our trip (but, in perspective, far less expensive and less serious!).

I have had 3 monaco DP over the years, the 98 endeavor was the best and the 04 executive was the total looser. I don't understand why put a million mile motor in a 100000 miles chassis. I think I will keep looking for the million mile prevost.
