Built-in TV antenna--good & bad?

Our new vacationer's builtin TV/radio antenna works great when in a big city--in Phoenix we have 50 digital channels. But, in Tucson, we couldn't get a single channel even though we were within 5 miles of the station! Guys next to me with Wingaard's got several channels. I assume it was the way the MH was pointed--away from reception; and it's not adjustable.

I'm not ready for Dish yet. Should I switch to Wingaard for more consistent reception? My last RV's wingaard worked great.

Well a few years ago the answer to your question would be YES. and in fact I think the Winegard Sensar IV is very likely the best RV tv antenna made today.

However the Sensar 3 is lots cheaper, and roughly equal to the new one from King COngrols (The JACK antenna).. I have a Sensar II with the opitonal wingman, that makes it identical to a sensar III. (3).

There are a few other options too, but none, near as I can tell, as good as the Sensar 4, even if the #2 spot is shared by Sensar 3 and Jack.

Winegard SensarPro

I have a "batwing" antenna, (which was original with my '96 coach).
When I added a "Wingman", reception improved slightly.
Later, I replaced the original antenna amp with a Winegard SensarPro.
The numerical "signal strength meter"is very helpful.
The "gain" can be increased for distant stations which can do wonders in "fringe areas", (if you are close to a transmitter the "gain" must sometimes be turned down to receive a nearby station).
The many adjustments available on the SensarPro are a little complicated to understand and learn, but IMO it is worth the $70 price.
