Buying new Toad

Alas, I've been towing my 2008 Saturn Vue XR V6 now for 9 years and it has grown old. Time for a new one.

Found a new 2016 Ford F150 XLT 4x4 SuperCab with 2.7l twin turbo V6 and 6.5' bed for $34k. Weighs about 450lbs or 500lbs more than my Saturn from what I can tell.

I don't think my little C7 350hp will notice the extra weight. Hope not anyway.

Thinking of the M & G brake system but don't like having to replace the filter with the K & N. Not sure about violating the warranty on the engine and on the efficiency or problems with the oiled filter.

Be nice to hear from others who have installed the M & G.

One thing about the K&N air filter, it will dust your motor

So I have heard. I also see there are some dry filter options in the same format (not by k&n). Anyone use those?

I've looked at the air force one. How do people handle the adjustable brake pedals?

Mike, I have the air force one in my 07 jeep GC. It has the adjustable pedals. I installed the brake pedal pulley thing (can't remember correct term) on with the adjustable pedal all the way out. I.E. closest to the driver. Just always make sure pedals are all the way out when towing or it will not pull in enough to activate the brakes. We've had the AF1 for about 3 years now and love it. So much easier to get ready to tow than the old brake buddy I used to use.

On the M&G system, why do you have to change the air filter to a K&N? Or did I misunderstand your earlier remarks?

Chad

PS. If you have any questions about the AF1 let me know. I'll be glad to help anyway I can. I've installed several of them.

Chad

To install the M&G you need to move the master cylinder forward about 5".
To do this you have to remove the factory air filter housing and replace it with a K&N.

Over the years I've read so my reports of dusted engines from K&N filters. Makes me Leary of it all even though there was a high probability that the user failed to properly maintain the filter.

The Air Force One seems to be the best solution. Thanks for the advice on moving the pedals out completely.

Pickup the new toad tomorrow.
