Cable reel not winding IN (out is working).

This trip has presented the usual fun - most recently the power cord reel will spool out but not in. Two things worth noting: first the breaker in the rear run box that is identified as the power reel breaker, when I trip it, does NOT prevent the reel from spooling OUT. Second, did a test on the switch in the wet bay and it is transmitting 12V on the output side of the switch when in the "out" position, so I don't think it is the switch.

Anyone know what kind of reel they used on the S-Series chassis in '06? Nothing in the coach documentation.

Many coaches use the Glendinning Cablemaster. Cablemaster - Glendinning Products

My coach has a "drum" (rather than a reel) that the cable spools into. If you have this style, you probably have the CM7 model. You can get the manual at the link above (it's too big to attach to this post).

Good luck.

I had my gearing strip out many years ago on that reel. There was no issue with the 120 volt power getting through from shore power, but when I hit the switch to reel the cord in, I could hear the motor running but the reel wasn't turning.

There a guy in Norco, CA that makes the gears with a 3D printer. His name is Backhoe Joe and was a member here for a while. Not sure if he still is or not. I can't seem to find his contact info, but I'll keep looking. Maybe someone will come along and post that info for you.

Depending on your reel, they are $750-850. I know the 3D gear was much less than that.

This is for the shoreline reel. I have Joe's email if needed.

Thank you for the replies. I should not have referred to it as a "reel" since I can't see it and don't know what it actually is. The troubleshooting guide has this condition listed (works in only one direction), so I have a place to start.

I'll be in one place for a week starting tomorrow, so a good time to start taking things off.

John,

I was hoping you'd pop up here.

I can't find his contact after he got 'edited' on the other thread. Can you email or pm me with that info? I need to put his info in my contacts.

I hope your's is easier to access than mine was. I had to take the bedroom closet cabinets and drawers out so I could get to it.
