Call for pictures of RF-18 refrigerator install in Sig
My friend's 02 Sig (3 slides) norcold just bit the dust- cooling unit failure. He is trying to decide whether to repair ( under warranty) or replace with a residential. I have been trying to convince him to consider the RF18. He does not do much boondocking and has a drawer underneath he can remove. If someone has an installation picture of a RF18 in a similar model I'd like to forward to it him. He is not much on computers so I thought I would ask here. I did a search but haven't seen anything close. Thanks in advance.

Yes, it seems to be happy so far. 18 months into it, using the OEM Magnum ME 3100.

OP here. My friend installed a RF18 in his Sig this week and is extremely happy with the results. He had a drawer under Norcold that he removed. No pics yet. He also has a MSW inverter (Xantrex 3000 watt).

Back over 4 years ago I was in the same situation except my NotSoCold was still running but it never kept stuff cold enough to not spoil food in a few days and then forget about keeping anything frozen. The ice cubes always ended up being one huge block of ice and you always had soupy ice cream.
I had previously made a reservation with David Force to have an Amish cooling unit installed in April on my way from Florida to Alaska. Then some close friends came to camp and visit for a few days and I was sharing what my plans were to FIX the NotSoCold.
Well after some discussion it was VERY clear to me that installing a Samsung residential was a far better choice financially with superior performance and reliability and here's why.
If I had just the cooling unit replaced I would still have to deal with all of the other issues that come with the Norcold body. Such as the large door hinges failing causing the doors to fall off, control board issues both main and eyebrow, dealing with the POC Norcold Black Box (what a JOKE!), having to defrost the freezer every month, storage still less than 12 cu/ft versus 18 cu/ft, interior fins frosting up constantly and these are just a few of the downsides to keeping the Norcold body.
Plus there have been many folks that did have the Amish cooling unit installed only to have cooling problems later on and finally spent the money to switch over to the Samsung residential admitting that they should have done it a long time ago.
So I thank my friends constantly for bringing me to my senses each and every time I open my Samsung to retrieve food that has not spoiled and have stuff that stays frozen for a VERY long time.
