Just a note to let fellow lovers of Monaco products know that we are selling our beloved Diplomat on IRV2 classifieds. This RV has made us believers in the Monaco product but we must downsize. It is a 2006 Monaco Diplomat PDQ. We have had a blast traveling in it because it's so reliable and comfortable!

We have an '03 Dynasty Jack and had problems with the l.r. slide awning last December. Apparently while sitting in MN cold something leaked into awning and in early December, when I opened it to pack for annual travel, ice got into awning. When I closed slide it wouldn't close all the way and the arms bent. Took it 3 miles to Cummins dealer that does coach work. They took the awning off the coach.

I asked them to fix or replace the awning and put claim in to Insurance.
Problem now is that the Cummins dealer has been talking to Carefree of Colorado and they say that awning in no longer available and they would have to replace with a different kind and color. Cummins dealer suggested that they could fix the awning and replace the cloth even though they would have to fabricate part of the awning arm and connection. There is also the option of leaving the awning off and having no cover for slide out.

We are now in Tennessee heading for Florida and were wondering if others have had experience with Carefree of Colorado like this. Also, any suggestions on whether to replace with different awning or fix the existing one would be appreciated. We are full timers and I am concerned with keeping the RV's resale value.

Here is some info regarding your Carefree awning issue. I also have a damaged awning on my 04 HR Imperial and talked with Julie Roesner at Carefree about a replacement part or parts the other day. They no longer have the model to match mine which are SKO II.

She referred me to Shade Pro out of California. They bought the left over stock for the older Motorhomes from Carefree and have many of the parts to fit these awnings. They also have new products for motorhomes.

Their number is 800-328-5100. I spoke with Michael Vargas and if you email him a photo of your awning along with model numbers he can see what they have to match yours. His email is mvargas@shadepro.net

He had a deflector and other parts for mine. I just will have to repaint the deflector to match my pewter colored one.
