Camelot Slide Stuck Help
Hello,
My 07 42ft PDQ is experiencing a new problem. The large fridge side slide is not extending at an even rate, the rear of the slide is operating normally but the front of the slide is hanging up. It appears that it isn’t dropping as it should at beginning of extending process but it is tough to tell. As of now, I have a slide that is fully retracted at the rear but an inch short of fully retracted in front. I tried raising pass side to assist with extending and had no luck. Rods that actuate the slide are turning. The slide is getting cocked and binding.
We had Elite perform the slide upgrade in 2016, absolutely no problems since.
Suggestions appreciated, including who could provide support. We are currently at Travis Airbase in CA.
Thank you

Only thing I can think of is run it in and out a few times, holding the switch for a few extra seconds when the slide hit's the stops in both directions.

If you have leveled it with jacks, I would retract those. If you have an air leveling system, use that to bring it as close to level as possible... try to ensure that you're not torquing / twisting the chassis.

Thanks for suggestions, I should have stated that the slide is not extending but binding on way out, the rear continues while front trails and then slide binds and stops. Then when I try to retract it doesn’t retract to flush at front of slide. Completely in at rear.
Also, although we had no issue when bringing in the slide, we recently spent 3 days wit slides out in a not quite level position. Wondering if that is a contributing factor or just coincidence.
Again, suggestions are very much appreciated.

To the extent possible, check the uhmw bearing surfaces. The flat plastic sheets that bear the weight while the slide is moving. Those do break, wear out and come loose... sometimes even prohibiting the slide from retracting fully.
The slide-out, I assume, is electric over hydraulic, with hydraulic cylinders moving the slide in and out. Not a rack and pinion system, correct?
While being level is ideal for so many reasons, in this case the concern would be the chassis, frame and mechanism for the slides... They must be at rest with no moments of force applied - twisting, torquing, bending etc.
Typically, it would be best to pull it onto a FLAT SURFACE (flat is more critical than level), without engaging any leveling systems of the coach. Then, if possible try to run the slide out, and back in repeatedly until it has been manipulated back into it's intended track. At first, I would suggest not using the hydraulics to bully it into place. I believe it would be better to cycle it up to the point that you hear the hydraulics starting to strain - and then reverse directions. Save the full force hydraulics for the last measure!
Is there any reason to believe that something got torqued? ie, running a jack up too high or in some way applying undo force on the frame members?
What type of leveling systems does your coach have?

I just live a mile from Travis, I keep my 08 on base in storage, getting ready for Quartzite now. You mentioned Elite did the modification, what did they do? I too had a fix done with them, adding new SS plates under the slide. Removed the plastic broken runners under the slide. I can come by and take a look, to see what is hanging it up, check the fluid (left front wheel area next to generator). PM me i will give you my cell.

Wide glide and Boomer, he has an 07 Camelot with rack and pinion run by electric motor. 08 Camelot went to hydraulic cylinders.
Two things that happen with the slide. The bolts that connect the motor to the two square shafts are prone to shearing. The other is the gear pack goes bad. There are two.
Mr. Willard is the expert with these and hopefully will chime in tomorrow. I’ll send him an email even though he most likely will see this. He knows how to determine what is wrong and how to fix it. Andersku, he has a twin to your coach.

Oh!
Well in that case, disregard my suggestion of holding the travel switch for a few extra seconds.

Actually, there in another thing that can go wrong... The shaft on the pinion gear can break at the drift pin. Have had that happen twice...
