Cameras are intermittent

2005 HR Ambassador

My cameras can be erratic. The rear one works most of the time but then, out of the blue, will go to static for several minutes before operating again. The right rear camera many times is blank when I engage the right turn signal. This happens more often than the problem with the rear camera. Don't recall this happening with left rear camera.

Has anyone else had these problems? Are they usually wiring issues or something else?

Also, would it be simple to change from a black and white to a color system? Would I be able to use the same wiring to save money?

I had a similar problem with my rear view camera, turns out that the plug for the camera cable behind the dash was not fully plugged in. After plugging it in I put a couple of small ties on it. Have excellent view of rear area now. Harry

Had same issue with my rear camera. I removed the camera and cleaned the contacts, then sealed it with electrical tape, no more problems. I would check the connection at the cameras and at the monitor. Let us know what you find.

Try and live up to your dogs opinion of you.
