The OP already stated that insurance only wants to give him enough for a used genset. If his existing unit has been reliable, then it would probably be wise to keep it since he knows its history.

UPDATE:

I fixed where the cooling fan was scraping on the housing, replaced smashed front cover, the smashed start switch, and circuit breaker. I fixed the front of the broken tray. Ran a full load test for an hour with both AC's, water heater, fridge, inverter charging batteries, and microwave oven. No problems!
