CB Radio, with phone style antenna

Have 2007 Dynasty with subject antenna made by Firestick. Performance has always been very poor even after Firestick adjusted it. I would like to install a standard Firestick. Having problem locating CB cable from the interior side of roof. Has anyone converted to a better quality antenna?

LS,
CB radio (running at 27 mhz) needs an antenna longer than a "whip" of just a few inches. A "better quality" antenna is mostly a function of its length. This is why you see several FIRESTICK antennas in the range of 4' in length.

To have better-range CB reception, purchase a 30" or longer antenna and mount it vertically just outside your driver-side location. Do not cut/splice the cable that comes with that antenna as the whole thing (cable and antenna) are "tuned" together.

I, very much agree with you. Do you know if it is possible to thread new antenna cable to radio. I am lost as to finding a way of getting cable to radio from outside of RV.
Thank you for responding.

Cutting a pre-made antenna cable and re-soldering the connector that you just removed isn't a sin. Losing about 1 or 2 inches of the antenna's pre-made cable will have some signal transmit effect, but the receive side mostly won't care. So with a connector removed, drilling needed 1/4" holes (in your rig's flooring and/or in your rig's external fiberglass) gets the cable from inside to outside.
