Just had the lift pump replaced on our 8.3 cummins with a new cummins lift pump. $445 for the entire pump and bracket assembly and 2 hours labor for the mobile mechanic. The new pump doesn't come O-rings so he had to supply those. Much, much quieter than the old one which still worked but decided to replace as a preventative type maintenance. Can't hear the new one from the drivers seat and the door closed.

It was a simple (well, for him) remove and replace item. The new pump bolts right up. I couldn't tell the difference between the old and new one. The mechanic thought the differences in the new upgraded pump might be internal and have to do with seals related to the ULSD fuel. Not sure though.

I placed plastic all over the bedroom and floors thinking he would do the job from inside the coach but he did the entire job from beneath. I kept the old one just in case the new one gives me problems (Made in China). Put down cardboard, an oil catch pan and have lots of rags handy because you will get diesel fuel all over the place.

Thought about a FASS system but decided to go OEM.
