In my '96 Safari "which set of batteries is charged and when" is controlled by a "
diode based solid state battery isolator", (NOT a "large solenoid").

I don't know whether the '02 Monaco Knight uses a "solid state isolator", or a "large solenoid", to control battery charging.
However, whether it uses an "isolator" or a "soleniod", the alternator in a '02 Monaco SHOULD CHARGE BOTH the house and the chassis batteries as you drive...(WILL if everything is working correctly).
