Charging coach batteries?

I've been sitting for couple months now and plan to take my neptune for a short ride to exercise it and the set back up for a couple more months before I get to go home to FL. After several posts that contradict my manual about my chassis batteries charging on shore power I decided to buy a battery charger just in case. Do I set the charger on the 6 or 12 volt setting? I believe 12 volt but just want to be sure also, should I turn the battery disconnect switch off when charging? I've had it on because the manual stated to do this so they would charge. Any help would be appreciated... Thanks again, I don't know what I would do without this forum!!!

time2go,

You would set your charger on 12v and connected it across both chassis batteries to charge both of them. They are connected in parallel. No need to turn off the disconnect switch while charging.

What you need is a device like the echo~charge by Xantrex, or the MTO module for your front run bay, in order to keep your chassis batteries charged while plugged in. You can read more information on my web site. Or read this thread.

Unrelated suggestion for you.... Go to User CP -> Edit Signature on this forum and set up a signature that will appear on every messge. Include the year and model of your coach in your signature. That way you will get better responses on questions that will be "fine tuned" to your particular coach.

Well I don't know if my batteries are being charged or not while plugged into shore power but after sitting over 2 months my MH started right up. Took if for a ride and set back up. Everything performed as I'd hoped. Still trying to get used to a motorhome after having fivers for so long.

No your chassis battery is not being charged when hooked to shore power unless someone added a Echo charger or a Trike-L-Start charger because Monaco did not install them in this coach as Robin has said check out his page to see his installation then see if you have one installed.
