Charging the Chassis Battery

I remember reading a thread this winter that gave a web sit where a person might buy a add-on to the chassis battery that would charge it while pluged into electric just like the house batteries. Anyone out there remember this site? Thanks for the help.

I thought that the Magnum Inverter/Charger was to charge the chassis batteries when not on the road and when using shore power. I was at the Wildwood Monaco Service Facility (I have a 2006 40PAQ Endeavor) and they replaced a small board in the front panel that was suppose to fix the chassis battery charge problem. Apparently it didn't I still have to manually change with an external charger. ALSO, I would really like some electrical dwgs for this coach. I would appreciate your input and help.

Thanks Gonzo, that is what I was looking for. I am plugged into shore power all the time. If I sit for two to three weeks without starting the engine I need to use the battery boost to get it to start. You would think that this should not happen. :( It would be nice to have a wire diagram of our couches, we all may need them.
Thanks for your help.

Charging Batteries

I just received my Trik - L - Start, plan to install this week. Have been told it will do a good job. On another subject, just took my coach (07 Diplomat) to my dealer for an oil change and some warranty issues (mine runs out this month) and was informed that there IS NO WARRANTY from Monaco, the customer pays it all and IF they recover from there financial problems, we may get that money back. Was told that even the new units on the lot are not covered but the dealer (stoltzfus rv) will cover it for the first year (at some cost to the customer I'm sure). I'm sure that will have most customers looking at other brands. Has anyone else run into this ?

Here's another way to go, add a B.I.R.D relay to replace the I.R.D relay.

BIRD relay, above.

IRD relay unpluged.

Tech Bulletin

At the come home rally last September Bubba said he was going to get the procedure for replacing the IRD with a BIRD posted in Tech Tips. I never was able to find it. Drifter since it looks like you added on to your coach did you have a procedure and where can the parts be found.

Thanks

Dave our coach came with the BIRD, but it looks as this could be a plug and play install. The IRD with red/blue/black wires is disconnected and BIRD wires yellow/white/purple is plugged into connector CN418, the red wire plugs into the connector above. Heres another picture.

This is a current listing on E-bay for a BIRD unit.

Thanks Drifter. This seems the best approach for me! Kenbob

We installed the Xantrax Echo Charger (pictured above) after hurricane Charley and drained the chassis batteries while putting 180 hours without starting the chassis engine as our Onan starts and has a slight draw on the chassis batteries. Simple install and works as advertized.
