Cleaning day/night blinds

My blinds were really dirty. Must have had a smoker as a previous owner. Blinds were alabaster white with heavy yellow staining.

Removed valances and blinds and put blinds in a small pool filled with water and about 4 cups of oxy clean. Let soak for 1-2 hours.

Used oxy clean spray as a spot treater on any remaining stains.

When I pulled them out of the water I put them on a long table and folded them back like they go. I then zip tied them so the pleats dried in the proper position. Next day I hung them back up.

They came out like new!! The threads and all are white again.

Jeff, that's amazing! My blinds need cleaning and I sure want to try this. How much trouble are the blinds to get down?

I had to remove the valances to get to the clips

that you have to push and rotate the blind header out. Some of the clips had to be bent with vice grips to free up enough space to push them towards the exterior of the coach.
Much easier with two people. 7 blinds took us two days.
I even did the metal mini blinds and they turned out like new.
I would be cautious using this formula on colors though. I think it's a peroxide based cleaner.

The two part oxy cleaner works like magic! Last trip out DH just flicked a bug that was sitting on a shade and it just exploded leaving a silver dollar sized blood stain. We stopped at the next drug store where I purchased a bottle of cleaner. Leaving the blind in place, we put a pad of paper towel underneath and sprayed the cleaner on. Voila - stain gone. DH could breath again.
