Cleaning up the Generator

what do you folks suggest for the best way to degrease the generator? I want to remove oil deposits and the grit that's stuck to it.

Simple green

Its biodegradable

EPA oks it for boats and marinas.

I spray it concentrated on grease areas and let soak 10 minutes or so.
Then rince with lots of water.
Do again if more grease remains.

Rince well.

After all the areas are degreased.

I mix a mild solution of something like dawn soap and water and spray the engine.

Rince well.
Very well.

I then use a leaf blower to Dry.

Straight simple green can be hard on aluminum if not rinced off well .

So the mild wash with deluted dawn removes any
Simple green residue.
