Clear Coat Repaired

After reading discussions on this form and others trying to find a solution to my clear coat issues I decided to have the problem professionally done.

As we travel from city to city I would contact several RV paint shops for pricing and such. Pricing ranged from $2500 to $5000, just a bit more than i wanted to spend.

We are currently in Deer Park, WA about 20 miles from Spokane, Wa. I found an truck and RV painter in Spokane that would do the job for a reasonable price.

My diplomat had peeling clear coat on the front and rear caps as well as the sides above the awning rails. Three colors of paint were involved as well as the clear coat.

Rick stripped and sanded the areas, repainted the three colors due to paint fade and applied clear coat over 2 days. Total job cost $1009.82. More than half of the cost was in material alone.

Very happy with the job he performed and would recommend him.

Do you have before/after pictures? My Camelot has a few spots of peeling in same areas.

Thank you for that information Ken. That sounds like a very reasonable price.

A large number of Monaco's have exactly the problem that you mention, including us. I tried to clearcoat the areas my self and I can safely say that this didn't work at all.

I thought that I did an OK job preparing the surface before applying the clear coat but within month everything started to come off again. This is most likely a job for the professionals. Live and learn.
