Clockspring Replacement
I changed the clock spring a couple of days ago. It took longer to gather the tools than to R&R the clockspring. The clockspring is a Douglas Autotech 1900043 in my application, 2007 Monaco Signature.
I have had intermittant issues with smart wheel controls; wiper, and cruise control. Every time I think it's fixed, a few thousand miles later it rears its ugly head again, which it just did recently.
I purchased the clockspring last summer. I put off the replacement as the problems seemed resolved and the directions made it sound time consuming but in the end most of the directions were for a different application and it took perhaps 30 minutes.

I saw the clock spring replacement instructions here: Service Parts | Douglas Autotech Corporation The job doesn't look too bad.
There are a lot of clock springs available - how did you know which one was correct for your coach (did you call them)?
How much does a clock spring cost?

It's much simpler than the instructions in my case.
I bought from Veruinks as I wasn't positive of the part number, $527 including shipping https://www.veurinksrv.com/monaco-factory-direct-part/

Here is another source for a clockspring.
https://www.rvchassisparts.com:8443/...is/runApp?id=5
I believe mine is the same part number, I have a parts diagram from Monaco for my steering column showing the OEM parts, I was able to track down the part number and manual to change. Have not had a problem with mine but when I do I'll be ready.

It looks the same, I'd call to check part numbers. It is the Douglas Smartwheel Clockspring in my case.

I just ordered a clock spring for my 2007 Nav which I expect is very similar to your coach. I have never done this before, but it looks fairly easy. Did you zero the new clock spring or assume it was already zeroed or centered? Any other tips or comments? Much appreciated.

I just put it in, don't think you can get it wrong.

Clocksprings on all cars and light trucks come centered and locked. While this isn't a very complicated job there are many safety precautions that need to be taken and I don't consider this a DIY job. I am still surprised these parts are available to the general public.
An airbag improperly removed, disconnected or installed can seriously injure or kill.
A clockspring installed with the wheels uncentered will be 500$ wasted in no time.

Huh? Seeing as how this is not a car or light truck this post has nothing to do with the subject at hand. Airbag? Doesn't exist on the subject of this thread.

I replaced mine in 30 minutes... Could do it again in 15. Definitely a DIY job.

I do realize we are talking RVs. Do these NOT have airbags on the steering wheel? In automotive I have never seen a clockspring on a vehicle without airbags, although they could be used that way.

I have not seen an airbag on a big class A diesel pusher.
I was repairing clocksprings on cars and trucks before airbags were invented.

Sorry for butting in. I have been working on clocksprings since 1985 but all have involved airbags. I should not have assumed...
