Coach Step won't retract
The coach step on my 07 Dip is locked in the extended position and will not retract . We were hoping to leave this Saturday for our annual trip to Florida. and Unfortunately the Coach can not be driven with the step in that position.
I checked and I do have power to the control Module, the step light functions normally and there is power to the step override switch at the door.
When I removed the control module under the step there were water droplets between the step frame and the plastic cover so I suspect that that may be the problem.
Are there other diagnostics I should perform or Is there a way I can manually retract the step, or somehow override the module and get power to the motor to temporarily retract the step until we get down South and I will deal with it there?
Thank You

If they are Kwikee pull the Pin underneath the bottom step.
Then you will have to tie them up and in.
May need to get yourself a short foot stool to get in and out easier.
I tied a long rope on a foot step to bring it back inside the MH

Unfortunately they are not Kwikee, they are made by Coach Step Inc. I believe they are now owned by Lippert, Thank You for your reply!

Suggest giving the step's drive-motor a solid rap with the plastic end of a large screwdriver. If you can give it this solid tap while you know that power is being applied is best.

With all the interlocks and such...
you know power must be applied if the coach engine is running, and the door goes from open to closed.
About any other conditions, it's possible the step motor is interlocked out.

Hi.. I am no genius by any stretch of the imagination..
Suggestion:
In your bay on the drivers side..check your fuses and the relay associated with that fuse. You should have a schematic of what fuse goes with what..
I had a similar problem with steps, radio and cameras and it was a $12.00 relay which was bad, it controlled all 3 options. Also this was an intermittent problem.
Good Luck..
BTW: Sent you a PM

I had the same problem several times and finally adjusted the linkage so it was a little looser and it hasn't hung up again.

I went thru 3 lippert uniits on my Camalot before I got a good one. I am on my third and it has worked great for a year. At over $200 a copy I would think they could get the QC under controle.

Thank You all for your reply's, I talked to a Tech at Lippert and we pretty much narrowed it down to the Control Module.
I wired the motor direct to a small 12 Volt battery with Alligator clips and I reverse polarity to extend and retract, works fine for now and I will deal with it when I get to Fl.
Sounds like it's going to cost $250.00 plus for a new module, expensive but I will research it to see if I can do better!
Thanks

Mr. V I had to replace the step module last year on my moho and the price you mentioned seems about right for the replacement module. I did a good bit of looking before I finally got the replacement and then I ended up getting it thru my dealers service department.

Happycarz, I meant to thank you for posting that link. I have the installation manual for the steps but it did not contain the trouble shooting guide or the nice color picture. I printed it down and added it to my manual for any future problems or need. John 2006 Monarch

I bought one from this company Electric Step Parts : R & K Products . They run around $160.00 for the module.
