Cold water running hot with Aqua Hot
Having an issue with our water system. When Aqua Hot is on the cold water side of the sinks and the toilet as well will run warm to hot for about five min and then start running cold as they should. Checked the Aqua Hot manifold and all appears correct. My guess is that the cold water lines are running next to the hot water lines and suffering heat transfer. Any one run into this situation?

Heat transfer from a hot line to a cold line wouldn't create 5 minutes worth of heated water. Check your outside shower and be sure both hot and cold are shut off. Another possibility is a check valve that is allowing backflow into the cold water lines. When water goes into the water heater, it expands as it is heated, a faulty check valve could be allowing heated water into the cold lines. Also check that all valves are set either off or on, none should be partially open.

We also frequently get warm water from the cold tap in the bathroom, but only for a few seconds. I, too, agree about the outside faucet.
And Joe & Annette, we wouldn't be without our AquaHot! Love it!!

We have the same problem for about 3 seconds when cold is first turned on.

We just had this problem. Ours turned out to be the basement thermostat was calling for heat which kept the #2 pump running and circulating hot water throughout the rear heat system. Our rear heat exchanger is in the bath vanity which was keeping the water in the lines warm. It was also keeping our toothpaste warm in the drawer above it. BLICK!
Check your Aqua Hot panel and see if there are any pumps running when there is no demand for hot water.

I also found my #2 pump running for no reason. I first noticed this outside the coach when I was near the AquaHot bay - I heard a faint sound which was the pump running. This is in 80+ FL weather. I worked a little with the guy on the Aqua Hot forum to figure this out, and eventually just added a toggle switch to shut off the #2 pump when not in use (although it doesn't always run). This way I don't need to worry about the pump wearing out.
So maybe it is a faulty "basement thermostat". Thanks for that lead.
Who makes this thermostat and where can I buy one?

The #2 pump running when there seems to be no reason for it is simply the pump being used as a stir function. This happens when the tank temp drops below a set temp and the electric or diesel burner heat is actively heating the tank. Zone #2 in my system has three functions, heat to the bathroom, heat to the basement and stir while the tank is heating.

True, but ours was running all of the time. Hubby heard the same as Country B. Basement heat running in 80+ degree weather.

Interesting suggestions that I will be checking out. Our bathroom, bathroom floor, and the lower cabinets in the hallway are way to warm to be normal which would be great if it was winter time not so great when it is 101 degrees outside. So I think there might be something to the number two pump which I will be checking out to see what is happening.
